Read: 14 mins.Over the past 2.5 months, I had the fortunate opportunity to test and review 3 car freezers/refrigerators that could be powered by the 12V port/battery of a car. Their energy efficiency allowed them to be powered by a battery power station and supplemented with solar panels. We came to love the Foho over the Rockpals and Domende ones, and in this review, we look at the smallest model of that product line: the 34qt Foho BCD-32. There was much to like!

Read: 7 mins. How FRUSTRATING it had been living for a week without the ability to hear much from one ear... aargh! It was clogged the day after stand up paddle boarding in the picturesque Newport Beach, California, harbor, and it felt like having been underwater with a ringing bell inside the head. Five days of ear wax removal drops did nothing but contribute to continued irritation and a small amount of worry that something might have been wrong. Did I have impacted earwax, water stuck in the canal, an ear infection, or worse? Here is what I did to regain my hearing.

Read: 6 mins.If you like vlogging or taking stabilized, steady videos, gimbals are designed to help you do so. A variety of gimbals exist, but not too long ago, DJI introduced the Osmo Pocket -- a handheld, compact recording device that combines an action camera with built-in video stabilization. It was initially plagued with issues, but DJI enjoyed a good year of success with a one-of-a-kind product... until now. Feiyu brought its Pocket to market recently to become the Osmo Pocket's first challenger. With updated features and an attractive price, there is much to like about the newcomer.

Review: UPerfect 15.6″ Portable, Touch Monitor with Battery

By |2021-06-26T22:27:36-07:00Jul 21, 2020 - Tuesday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 6 mins.Last year, I purchased an Acer PM161Q ($130) to supplement my then-Surface Pro 5 with a secondary display. It was a first-of-its kind, portable monitor that was lightweight, but it also was a nightmare of a device to use due to compatibility issues. Turns out, Thunderbolt 3 was required that not many devices yet supported. Fast-forward 7 months later, and more computers now support that technology. What stood out about this UPerfect 15.6" monitor were its touchscreen, built-in battery, IPS display, and quad speakers for about 25% less than the Asus Zenscreen MB16AMT I had been eyeing for months. Here is my evaluation of the UPerfect portable display.

Review: Domende 54 Quart Car Freezer/Fridge (HC-50) (54qt/50L/50 Liters)

By |2022-07-19T00:06:42-07:00Jul 17, 2020 - Friday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 11 mins.A family with two, young children was preparing for their first trip to Yosemite after having secured a visitation permit, a temporary requirement during the COVID-19 pandemic. The mother asked me how the Domende HC-50 (54 quart) car freezer compared to my Foho BCD-52. I have never heard of Domende, but there was one glaring difference: it only has one compartment. With no section divider (like the Foho), what does that mean in regards to temperature control, storage space, and flexibility? Here are my impressions.

Review: Jackery SolarSaga 100W Solar Panel (Gen 2 vs 3)

By |2023-05-20T09:20:22-07:00Jul 13, 2020 - Monday|Product Reviews, Reviews|

Read: 8 mins.Jackery impressed me with their Explorer 1000 battery power station and its excellent customer service. I complemented it with two SolarSaga 100W solar panels for camping and in case we had a power outage. That was exactly what happened one day: we lost power for an ENTIRE day. Were the panels able to produce enough energy to get us through the whole day working from home?
